New products focused on sustainability

Manufacturers showcase technology to aimed at energy improvement in commercial projects.

<p>A fabric system is an effective alternative to conventional metal ducts. They are considered more cost-effective, provide for better comfort and hygiene, are lighter weight and are more envivornmentally friendly. FabricAir's products have been used in sports complexes, industrial plants, retails stores and medical facilities.</p>

<p>The use of insulated metal panels, such as those produced by Metl-Span, are on the rise. The panels are considered ideal for achieving performance and durability in various commercial projects. Metl-Span panels are designed for use in walls, roofs and ceilings and come in a variety of colors and finishes. The panels are lightweight with tongue-and-groove fasten designs, enabling the products to be installed quickly, which can reduce construction time and cost. </p>

<p>Lumos produces function and aesthetic solar products that are dedicated to helping users become sustainable. Lumos, which touts itself as the art of solar, designs its panels to create architectural structures that offer visual and functional appeal. </p>

<p>EasyTurf serves as an water conservation system that is used in commercial, aviation military and park settings.  Completely recyclable, the product reduces carbon emissions, reduces water usage by up to 70 percent and prevents water run-off into sewer systems and waterways. Consisting of synthetic grass on the surface, EasyTurf's base is made of sand that can contain crumb rubber and a MaxxFlow back that fights weeds. The product sits atop natural soil.</p>

<p>Molo is a modular, free-standing, flexible partition system made of paper. Using flexible honeycomb to expand, contract and flex, the products are made of paper with 50 perent recycled content and two types of paper-like 100 percent polyethylene non-woven textiles. Panels connect with magnets. The translucent white textile version of the system can be used to shape light, acoustics and space. </p>

The tape also is resistant to driving rain.</p>

<p>SkyLouver is billed as the most flexible daylighting system on the market. It can be used to heat water, heat and cool various spaces and precisely control natural lighting. SkyLouivers can reduce annual lighting energy costs by as much as 75 percent, while deliverying as much as 75 percent more light than a skylight. They system can heat buildings with active or passive solar thermal energy or supplement existing heating systems. It also can supply up to 50 percent of a buildings air conditioning load and supplement refrigeration needs when pared with an absorption chiller.</p>

Thin brick can be applied to virtually any existing exterior wall. </span><span style="color: rgb(66, 66, 66); font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;">Intended for long-term replacement of other siding materials and easy to install, think bricks are </span><span style="color: rgb(66, 66, 66); font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;">available in 3/4-inch or 5/8-inch real brick tiles. The product is designed to  replace tile, vinyl siding, wood or aluminum siding. </span></p>

<p style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; outline: 0px; font-size: 14px; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(69, 69, 69);">One of the most efficient ways of dealing with snow  is by installing a snow melting system. Such system works by radiantly heating up walkways and driveways, causing the snow to melt. A typical hydronic snow melting system consists of PEX tubing, evenly laid out underneath the surface and a heat source (water heater or boiler). When hot water runs through the PEX tube, it gives off heat and warms the surface (be it concrete, asphalt, brick, tiles or other material), which causes snow to melt. The layout of PEX tubing and water flow is directly correlated to the speed of snow melting. The closer the tubing loops are to each other and the larger the flow is, the more heat is radiated. An average distance between tubes in a snow melting system is 10 feet. Variables such as surface thickness, tubing size, insulation, and depth of tubing installation depend mainly on area size and materials used and are set on a case-by-case basis.</p>
